Registration

The deadline for regular registration for the 2009-2010 school year was Friday, June 26, 2009. Please note that after June 26, 2009 the late charge is in effect.

New Personnel

As you are aware, Mr. Pileggi, our religion teacher accepted a call to pastor in the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventist. He will be attending Andrews University to better prepare himself for this new responsibility. We pray that God will continue to be with him and his ministry and that he will allow himself to be used by God to point individual to Christ. The new Religion teacher is Pastor Patrick Campbell. He is fully qualified for the responsibility and he comes also with a background in Social Work. We look forward to a very successful year.

Summer School

All students who enrolled in summer school must attempt to get at least an unofficial report of the grade received. This should be submitted to the guidance counselor so that she will be able to complete the correct schedule for the student.

Summer Regents

Another administration of the New York State Regents Examination will take place on August 13 and August 14, 2009. All students who failed the Global Studies Regents Examination in June are required to be present at Greater New York Academy on August 10 and 11, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for two preparation sessions with Mrs. Walker. Enclosed is a Summer Regents Schedule.

Office Hours

Continuing through August 21, 2009, the school will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Fridays. If you need to visit the school, please make arrangements to visit during that time frame.

Prayer Breakfast and Parent Orientation

On Sunday morning August 30, 2009, beginning at 9:00 a.m. we will again host our annual Prayer Breakfast for all parents and students. The devotional will take place in the school's gymnasium. Immediately following the devotional session we will have our parent orientation. It is very important for all parents to be present at that time. We will be reviewing policies and guidelines and you will have an opportunity to meet the teachers and have concerns addressed. After the parent orientation we will move to the cafeteria for a very delicious breakfast/brunch. You cannot afford to miss any of these activities.

Parents of Seniors Please Note

If your son or daughter would like to enroll in a college course in the fall, please speak with Mrs. Tanon, the guidance counselor before the start of school or during the week of scheduling.
